SSI Web generally is used for interviewing over the Internet. But, SSI Web studies can also be used for interviewing in "CAPI" mode (Computer Aided Personal Interview), which generally refers to data collection using a laptop or a PC not connected to the internet.
SSI Web CAPI uses questionnaires written under Sawtooth Software's SSI Web system. The author of the questionnaire makes a file called a "CAPI package" to deliver to a data collection site. The interviewing facility simply starts SSI Web CAPI, loads the project (the "CAPI package") and begins interviewing.
